SUMMARY:UA Rotary volunteering with Meals on Wheels
DESCRIPTION:UA Rotary covers a Meals on Wheels route once a month on a Saturday morning.  Rotary committed to delivering route V1410 which covers stops in Worthington and areas around Bethel/Henderson Road. \nThe deliveries can be completed by one or two Rotarians and this is a great activity to involve your family including younger children to introduce them to service.  The route typically will take one driver about three hours from the time you pick up meals at the Smoky Row Fire station to the time you get home. \nWe try to get volunteers to commit to dates several months in advance\, but that doesn’t always occur\, and sometimes volunteers end up not being able to do it and we need replacements. \nIf you are interested in helping with this very rewarding service\, please contact Barri Jones at twinsmom911@yahoo.com to let her know of your interest and to see what upcoming dates are available.  Dates UA Rotary has for spring and summer of 2020 are listed below (please note that these dates may already be covered by another member.  Contact Barri to make sure. \nMarch 14 \nApril 11 \nMay 9 \nJune 13 \nJuly 11 \n

DESCRIPTION:Warren Mott\,Motts Military Museum…To educate the public on the importance of America’s military past. \nWarren E. Motts\, a native of Ohio\, and graduate of Groveport-Madison High School\, joined the Ohio National Guard at the age of eighteen. He received basic training at Fort Knox\, Kentucky. After his training he was sent to Ft. Monmouth\, NJ where he was trained as a photographer. He was in the ONG for nine years obtaining the rank of Staff Sgt. in charge of the Photographic Section\, HQ & HQ\, 37th Infantry Division. He also obtained a job in the photographic department at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus\, Ohio\, receiving a secret and top secret security clearance working on government projects. At Battelle he met Daisy Blair and they were married. They have two children Wayne and Lori\, three grandchildren Brittney\, Taylor\, and Lexi. He was the owner of Motts Photographic Center\, Inc. for 25 years. He is past president of The Professional Photographers of Ohio\, The American Society of Professional Photographers\, and The Professional Photographers of America and has many degrees and awards from these organizations. He founded Motts Military Museum Inc. in his home in 1988 and moved to the present location in 1999\, where the museum continues to thrive and expand.

DESCRIPTION:UPDATED 3.23.20: POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 SITUATION \nDUE TO GOVERNOR DEWINE’S SHELTER IN PLACE ORDER\, HOMELESS FAMILIES FOUNDATION HAS POSTPONED THIS EVENT TO A LATER DATE.  IN THE MEANTIME\, PLEASE READ BELOW FOR HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW. \nHFF is  working with St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church to get the food drive rescheduled in the coming months\, and have urged their members to Donate Online or via Amazon Wish-list in the meantime. HFF is able to order items on a weekly basis from Mid-Ohio Foodbank\, so monetary donations to cover those costs are currently the greatest need. \n  \nHFF’s urgent needs list  is the other way to help out\, and those items can be dropped off to HFF on Monday’s between 10am-1pm. Please call Chad Gardner at 614-715-8551 when you arrive as the doors will be locked to slow community spread of the virus. HFF is closed to the public at this time with limited staffing onsite\, but they are still serving HFF families in a variety of ways. One big way is by continuing to deliver food and cleaning supplies to families on weekdays. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Please join your fellow Rotarians and their spouses/guests for a Dine-a-Round social.  We will reserve tables at several local restaurants and assign members to dine together.  We will kick off the evening with a cocktail hour and light hors d’oeuvres from 6:00 – 7:15 at the Grandview Cafe and then disperse in assigned groups to each restaurant.  You will learn at the cocktail hour who your dining partners will be for the evening.  Those interested in continuing their evening after dinner can grab ice cream at Jeni’s and then after dinner drinks back at Grandview Cafe. \nCost for the cocktail hour at Grandview Cafe will be covered but all Rotarians and guests will be responsible for covering their costs at their restaurant\, Jeni’s and drinks after dinner.  Advance registration will be required and details will be announced soon. \nHost: Matt Penrod
