DESCRIPTION:NIGHT OF THE ZACAPA \n \nIt’s a party that gets more and more infamous each year… and one that nobody wants to miss!  For the past eight years our club’s signature summer social event\, Night of Zacapa\, focuses on fellowship\, fun\, getting to know each other plus raising some money for our club projects. \nWe are excited to announce that once again this year our club’s annual Night of Zacapa event will be hosted by Steve Sandbo and Dave McCurdy Thursday August 20th at the home of Steve Sandbo with a few “tweaks” as the top priority is the safety of our members. \nDave and Steve have again offered to purchase the first bottle of Zacapa 23-year-old rum for $1\,000 to kick the event off.  The night will feature our own celebrity grilling experts Dave Dewey and Milt Lustnauer preparing prime steaks\, plenty of side dishes\, the “come to be expected” cigars bar\, lots of beverages of your choice\, possible aerial entertainment when the sun sets and great fun and fellowship. \nTo provide a safe as possible event\, “tweaks” will include: \n\nThe event will be 100% outdoors (yes\, you can use the bathroom inside)\nOutdoor style buffet line with masked servers\nHosted bar (not self serve)\nTables will be set up in the yard verses on the deck (physical distancing)\nThere will be only 4 settings per table verses 10 in the past.\nWe have decided his year’s event will be capped to the first 40 members who sign up so mark your calendar and be a part of a great evening!\n\nThe cost per person is $150 with all net proceeds going to the Upper Arlington Rotary Club \nPlease RSVP to Steve Sandbo\, 614-570-2527 or SSandbo@aol.com

DESCRIPTION:Please join us via Zoom for our UA Rotary Roundtable featuring UA Schools Superintendent Paul Imhoff discussing the 20-21 school year.  Zoom login information will be emailed to members in advance of this meeting. \nPlease note that we have moved up the start time for Roundtable meetings to 10 AM instead of 10:30 to allow for enough time between the Roundtable meeting and the regular noon club meeting. \nPaul Imhoff joined Upper Arlington Schools as superintendent in July 2013 and says he cannot imagine a better place to work and raise a family. Dr. Imhoff began his education career in middle school and high school language arts and reading. His administrative experience in public education has spanned over 20 years. This experience includes superintendent of Mariemont City Schools and assistant superintendent in Madeira City Schools. Dr. Imhoff earned his doctorate of Education from Miami University\, his Master of Science in Education from the University of Dayton\, and his Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University. He was recently selected as the 2020-2021 president-elect of AASA\, and was named the 2018 Ohio Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Imhoff is also a founding member of The Stand Project\, an Upper Arlington community action project focused on the prevention of substance abuse.

DESCRIPTION:Rotary Roundtable via Zoom – Dewey Mann\, Director of Waterman Farm \n  \nJoin us for Rotary Roundtable via Zoom as Dewey Mann\, the Director of Waterman Farm presents to us. \nThe Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory\, commonly referred to as Waterman\, has been a priceless educational resource in agriculture\, and agricultural best management practices for almost 100 years. \nThe farm was originally owned by Joseph Waterman\, a prominent and well-respected pioneer and agricultural figure in Franklin County\, Ohio.  Anna M. Waterman\, Joseph’s widow\, titled the property on to The Ohio State University on July 2\, 1923.  Since that original transfer\, four smaller parcels have been added to the site bringing the total acreage to its current 261 acres.  Waterman\, located on the Ohio State University campus\, holds a wide variety of natural features and facilities to support programming\, including the Turfgrass Foundation Research and Education Facility\, Waterman Dairy\, the Honey Bee Research Lab\, tillable land\, a woodlot and a stream. \nZoom invitations with login info will be sent to members in advance of this meeting.  Contact Jim Nicklaus for additional information.

SUMMARY:UA Rotary volunteering with Meals on Wheels
DESCRIPTION:UA Rotary covers a Meals on Wheels route once a month on a Saturday morning.  Rotary committed to delivering route V1410 which covers stops in Worthington and areas around Bethel/Henderson Road. \nThe deliveries can be completed by one or two Rotarians and this is a great activity to involve your family including younger children to introduce them to service.  The route typically will take one driver about three hours from the time you pick up meals at the Smoky Row Fire station to the time you get home. \nWe try to get volunteers to commit to dates several months in advance\, but that doesn’t always occur\, and sometimes volunteers end up not being able to do it and we need replacements. \nIf you are interested in helping with this very rewarding service\, please contact Barri Jones at twinsmom911@yahoo.com to let her know of your interest and to see what upcoming dates are available.  Dates UA Rotary has for spring and summer of 2020 are listed below (please note that these dates may already be covered by another member.  Contact Barri to make sure. \nMarch 14 \nApril 11 \nMay 9 \nJune 13 \nJuly 11 \n
