Early childhood development – positive and negative – directly affects how the brain develops\, leaving a lasting impact on learning\, behavior\, and health. \nIn Franklin County\, only 40% of our children are ready for kindergarten. Further\, this low percentage of children ready for kindergarten negatively impacts not only the children’s lives\, but our entire community. You can help change the trajectory of our children’s lives today and become part of the solution. \nFuture Ready Columbus\, a nonprofit\, collective impact\, is leading the charge and has assembled a team of central Ohio community leaders and government officials\, known as the Early Childhood Advisory Council (ECAC)\, to develop an equitable\, action-oriented kindergarten readiness plan\, Future Ready by 5. \nResearch demonstrates that four Kindergarten Readiness Drivers are crucial to a child’s ability to be ready for kindergarten: Health & Behavioral Health\, Families & Communities\, Education & Development Supports\, and Public & Private Infrastructure. These four drivers come together as our early childhood system. In Franklin County\, our system is broken\, and we must fix it. \nThe February 9th round table will educate attendees on the solution and the community-wide request for insight on Future Ready by 5. DESCRIPTION:Please join us via Zoom for our UA Rotary Roundtable featuring UA Schools Superintendent Paul Imhoff discussing the 20-21 school year.  Zoom login information will be emailed to members in advance of this meeting. \nPlease note that we have moved up the start time for Roundtable meetings to 10 AM instead of 10:30 to allow for enough time between the Roundtable meeting and the regular noon club meeting. \nPaul Imhoff joined Upper Arlington Schools as superintendent in July 2013 and says he cannot imagine a better place to work and raise a family. Dr. Imhoff began his education career in middle school and high school language arts and reading. His administrative experience in public education has spanned over 20 years. This experience includes superintendent of Mariemont City Schools and assistant superintendent in Madeira City Schools. Dr. Imhoff earned his doctorate of Education from Miami University\, his Master of Science in Education from the University of Dayton\, and his Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University. He was recently selected as the 2020-2021 president-elect of AASA\, and was named the 2018 Ohio Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Imhoff is also a founding member of The Stand Project\, an Upper Arlington community action project focused on the prevention of substance abuse.

Anderson’s research and teaching interests include temperate forest ecology\, invasive plants\, global environmental change\, environmental issues in food production\, and developing collaborative ecological projects across small colleges. She leads travel courses on global change in Brazil\, Utah and Alaska. In 2015\, she was recognized as the Ohio Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Motts\, a native of Ohio\, and graduate of Groveport-Madison High School\, joined the Ohio National Guard at the age of eighteen. He received basic training at Fort Knox\, Kentucky. After his training he was sent to Ft. Monmouth\, NJ where he was trained as a photographer. He was in the ONG for nine years obtaining the rank of Staff Sgt. in charge of the Photographic Section\, HQ & HQ\, 37th Infantry Division. He also obtained a job in the photographic department at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus\, Ohio\, receiving a secret and top secret security clearance working on government projects. At Battelle he met Daisy Blair and they were married. They have two children Wayne and Lori\, three grandchildren Brittney\, Taylor\, and Lexi. He was the owner of Motts Photographic Center\, Inc. for 25 years. He is past president of The Professional Photographers of Ohio\, The American Society of Professional Photographers\, and The Professional Photographers of America and has many degrees and awards from these organizations. He founded Motts Military Museum Inc. in his home in 1988 and moved to the present location in 1999\, where the museum continues to thrive and expand.
